About The Role
Reporting to the Engineer, Senior - MTS Projects, the successful candidate is responsible for all the major earthworks and construction projects in the Open Pit mine environs. Such projects involve aspects of Mining, Geotechnical and Civil Engineering and would include; road construction, bridges, drains, fencing, buildings, earthworks pads, retaining structures, drill pads, stockpile areas, waste dump foundation preparation, quarries and vegetation clearing.
In This Role, You Will
- Ensure different project designs are completed in time and in line with the monthly schedule with all supporting documentation.
- Ensure project schedules are appropriately developed considering interaction with production schedules, and monitored for timely delivery
- Ensure all projects are closely monitored and managed
- Ensure engineering designs meet site safety standard and other applicable standards, and ensuring operational requirements are addressed
- Liaise with relevant departments in order to complete designs efficiently and effectively
- Liaise with relevant departments/stakeholders in order to complete projects within budget and according to design and plan
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience.
- Degree in Mining/Civil Engineering
- 5 plus years’ experience in project designs and supervision, ideally in a surface mining environment
- Well-developed communication and technical skills
- Strong safety focus
- Ability to work well in a team and meet short term deadlines
- Ability to perform duties effectively with minimum supervision, and to supervise others
- Computer skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, Oracle, Mindsight, Deswik or similar mine design software experience
- Strong project and contractor management skills
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Knowledge and understanding of contract management in the private sector industry
- Knowledge in Project cost management
